Complaint Against Life Fixes Nothing
Some things you can change, others you need to work with.
But the worst choice is to pretend that things aren't the way they really are.
Begin with the facts, then make your choices.
Do not rail against life. [Do not complain about life.]
Make positive contributions where you can.
Practice gracious acceptance elsewhere.
And express daily gratitude for all of life.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie

you might as well try to teach a cat to bark.
- Byron Katie

which is nearly a certainty?

Always Seek the Truth
Keep the company of those who seek the truth;
run from those who have found it.
- Václav Havel
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion,
but not their own facts.
- Daniel Patrick Moynihan
When we blindly adopt a religion,
a political system, a literary dogma,
we become automatons. We cease to grow.

Facts Don't Change With One's Opinions Or Beliefs.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie
The presence of those seeking the truth
is infinitely to be preferred
to the presence of those who think they've found it.
- Terry Pratchett
Everyone has an opinion on many subjects
and is ready to share those opinions -
labeling them as "truth."
Sometimes it is relatively easy
to filter out these opinions.
Upon hearing an ad for the latest
weight-loss powder on late-night TV,
our skepticism leaps to our defense.
However, if we have heard the same opinion for years
from our parents, friends,
government officials, or religious leaders,
we are more likely to believe without questioning
than to raise our filter of skepticism
and ask the hard questions.

The Illusion of Knowledge is a Trap
Beware of false knowledge;
it is more dangerous than ignorance.

The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance -
it is the illusion of knowledge.

When you have a very strong FEELING that something is true, often it isn't.
WANTING something to be true doesn't make it true.
Likewise, being AFRAID that something is true doesn't make it true either.
Truth is not defined by
how many people believe something.
Ask. Question. Think.
Decide - for yourself.

Don't Just Assume - Find the Facts
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.
- Aldous Huxley
Everyone has a right to his own opinion, but no one has a right to be wrong in his facts.
- Bernard M. Baruch
Approach each new problem not with a view of finding what you hope will be there,

You may not like what you find. In that case you are entitled to try to change it.
But do not deceive yourself as to what you do find to be the facts of the situation.
- Bernard M. Baruch
We want the facts to fit the preconceptions.
When they don't, it is easier to ignore the facts

Be still and know who you are.
- Kirtana
Give yourself permission to allow this moment to be exactly as it is,

Have you ever arrived at work after your morning commute, and noticed that you didn't remember a single thing you saw during your drive? Let today be a day of awareness. Consciously pay attention to what is going on around you as drive, walk, do your business, or relax. Consider the world from the perspective of those you pass - the small child, the elderly lady trying to cross the street, the homeless person, the truck driver, the policeman, the executive in the big limo.
First accept reality, only then choose how to react to it.
