Grow Your Own Happiness
The foolish seek happiness in the distance;
the wise grow it under their own feet.
- J. Robert Oppenheimer (paraphrase)
Do the small things of life with a relaxed awareness.
When you are eating, eat totally -
chew totally, taste totally, smell totally.
Touch your bread, feel the texture.
Smell the bread, smell the flavor.
Chew it, let it dissolve into your being.
- Osho
Happiness is to be Found in Small Things, Close to Home.
...
Pay attention to rainbows, and snowflakes,
butterflies and the songs of birds,
the crash of storm-driven waves
and the mirror-surface of a quiet pond.
Let the depths of nature become a part of your innermost being.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie
It is wisest and best to fix our attention on the beautiful and the good,
and dwell as little as possible on the evil and the false.

Practice Stillness and Mindfulness
To the mind that is still,
the whole universe surrenders.
- Lao Tzu
Being wakeful in each and every moment of your life is meditation.
The simplest definition of meditation is:
when seeing, just see; when hearing, just hear.
- Josh Baran
Walking is Zen, sitting is Zen.
Then what will be the quality?
Watchfully alert, joyously unmotivated,
centered, loving, flowing, one walks.
And the walking is sauntering.
Loving, alert, watchful, one sits, unmotivated -
not sitting for anything in particular,
just enjoying how beautiful
just sitting doing nothing is,
how relaxing, how restful.
- Osho
To manage your mind,
know that there is nothing,
and then relinquish all attachment to nothingness.
- Lao Tzu
"Beginner Mind" is a Zen Buddhist term
that describes moving past our assumptions
of the nature of our life,

is always just beyond your grasp,
but which, if you will sit down quietly,
may alight upon you.
- Nathaniel Hawthorne
Live Well, Love Much, Laugh Often.
Boredom is the feeling that everything is a waste of time;
serenity, that nothing is.
- Thomas Szasz
Laugh at yourself and at life.
Not in the spirit of derision or whining self-pity,
but as a remedy, a miracle drug, that will ease your pain,
cure your depression, and help you to put in perspective
that seemingly terrible defeat and worry
with laughter at your predicaments,
thus freeing your mind to think clearly toward the solution
that is certain to come. Never take yourself too seriously.
- Og Mandino
The difference between serenity and boredom is whether you choose to enjoy it.

In Silence, You Understand Yourself and the Universe.
Find stillness and you find God.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie
We need to find God,
and He cannot be found in noise and restlessness.
God is the friend of silence.
See how nature - trees, flowers, grass - grows in silence;
see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence...
We need silence to be able to touch souls.
- Mother Teresa
God is found in stillness.
To know God is to stop and be still.
Listen to the spirit within you.
Communion with God happens internally.
You will never meet God in the hustle and bustle of life.
Learn to be silent.
It is here that you will find God.
- Tanya Guerrier
The style of God venerated in the church, mosque, or synagogue
seems completely different from the style of the natural universe.
